Northeast Lakeview College (NLC), part of the Alamo Colleges District, is making a major investment in New Braunfels with the purchase of a new, standalone permanent campus to support the region’s rapidly growing demand for affordable, high-quality education and workforce training.
The Alamo Colleges District acquired the former PNC Bank building at 2049 Sundance Parkway—a 58,000-square-foot facility located near the FM 306 and I‑35 intersection—for $13 million. The new campus will replace NLC’s current New Braunfels location at the Central Texas Technology Center (CTTC) on FM 758 and is scheduled to open in Spring 2026. The expanded site will provide state-of-the-art classrooms, labs, student services, and space for future workforce programs tied directly to regional employer needs.
Since launching at the CTTC in Fall 2023 with only 125 students, NLC has rapidly scaled enrollment to over 400 students in under a year, with course offerings expanding to meet strong community interest. Once the move is complete, NLC expects enrollment at the new location to grow to 1,500 students in the coming years.
“We are excited about the opportunity to enhance our offerings in the New Braunfels and Seguin communities,” said Dr. Veronica Garcia, President of NLC. “We’re aware of the region’s growing economic and workforce demands, and acquiring this larger facility allows us to ensure our service area residents receive the highest quality education and training to meet those demands.”
The new facility will allow NLC to expand its programming, including offerings in science, nursing, engineering, and semiconductor-related fields, aligning closely with local economic development priorities. NLC also maintains strong dual-credit partnerships with both New Braunfels ISD and Comal ISD, giving high school students access to college-level learning close to home.
To help fund the initial $8 million renovation and programming investment, the New Braunfels Economic Development Corporation (NBEDC) recently approved $1.2 million in reimbursements, with another $1.5 million still under consideration. Because New Braunfels lies outside the Alamo Colleges District’s taxing zone, local support is essential to make this expansion possible. The project is currently awaiting final approval from the City Council.
“There’s tremendous value in this partnership to the New Braunfels and Seguin communities,” said Dr. Mike Flores, Chancellor of the Alamo Colleges District. “Students who live in the area will continue to have the opportunity to study high-demand, high-wage career paths under the Alamo Colleges umbrella—close to home.”
As of 2025, about 37% of NLC’s students already come from Comal and Guadalupe Counties, reflecting the growing demand for educational access outside of Bexar County. The New Braunfels campus expansion strengthens the city’s long-term vision of becoming a hub for education and workforce development.
Classes will continue at the current CTTC site until the new campus is complete. For updates on the relocation, academic programs, or current course offerings, visit www.alamo.edu/nlc/nb.
