Need for blood donations continues even during a shortage
For local cancer patients, the ongoing blood shortage may mean they might not receive the transfusions they need to support them through treatment. During Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, donors can make a difference by donating blood.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month is also an opportunity to donate blood in honor of patients currently battling cancer or those who have lost their battle. It’s a gift that can honor the memory while also helping others currently fighting disease or injury.
Patients in more than 100 hospitals and clinics in South Texas including New Braunfels rely on the generous hearts of blood donors regularly. Even during a shortage, patients need blood to help manage ongoing conditions such as severe anemia, kidney disease and cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.
When you donate blood to help cancer patients, donors will score a $10 gift card by email of their choice from hundreds of restaurants and retailers like Amazon, Walmart, Home Depot, and more.
