The New Braunfels Manufacturing Association (NBMA) has awarded its first Honorary Life Member Award to Jerry Negrete, quality assurance manager at Detex Corp., in recognition of his 25 years of dedicated service to the organization and his lasting impact on the local manufacturing industry.

Negrete, who is retiring in October after 20 years with Detex, has been a cornerstone of New Braunfels manufacturing, helping to foster collaboration, innovation and workforce excellence across the region.

Founded in Chicago in 1923 and relocated to New Braunfels in 1978, Detex Corp. is one of the city’s oldest and most respected manufacturers. Known for its life-safety and security products, including door hardware and access control solutions. Detex has built a century-long reputation for quality craftsmanship and reliability. From its early days producing mechanical time clocks to its modern line of electronic security systems used worldwide, Detex remains a proud symbol of New Braunfels’ industrial heritage and commitment to progress.

“Jerry’s leadership and consistency have made a lasting impression on both Detex and the greater manufacturing community,” said Ken Kuehler, Detex CEO. “His example of professionalism, mentorship and dedication embodies what this award stands for,” added Mike Crowley, NBMA executive director.

As Negrete steps into retirement, his contributions continue to resonate — strengthening the bridge between New Braunfels’ storied manufacturing past and its promising future.
