I am a current Spring Branch resident and a lifelong, fifth generation Comal County native with roots in Smithson Valley dating to 1941. My family helped establish Smithson Valley High School by selling land to Comal ISD, and I am a proud SVHS Class of 2000 graduate. Raised on our family ranch, I learned a strong work ethic and still manage a livestock operation. I began public service through fire and EMS, remain active in civic organizations, and have owned and operated a small business since 2005.
Q&A Responses
1. Records access and efficiency
Q: How will you improve the speed, accuracy, and online accessibility of public records and filings so businesses, lenders, and property owners can complete transactions efficiently?
A: A cornerstone of my commitment to public service is the modernization and enhancement of public records accessibility. My primary objective is to transition towards a comprehensive online portal, ensuring that vital public documents are available to our community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, extending beyond traditional business hours. This initiative aims to significantly improve transparency, efficiency, and convenience for all citizens accessing county records.
2. Elections administration and confidence
Q: What steps will you take to ensure elections are accurate, secure, and timely while minimizing disruption to businesses and the workforce on election days?
A: Upholding the integrity and accessibility of our electoral process remains a paramount focus. We are dedicated to building upon the commendable groundwork laid by the current leadership, particularly in the strategic expansion of early voting opportunities and ensuring equitable access to polling locations across every precinct within the county. I wish to formally commend Election Coordinator Cynthia Jaqua and Voter Registrar Donna Dandridge for their exceptional stewardship in maintaining the accuracy, security, and safety of our elections. I am eager to collaborate closely with them, providing the necessary technological enhancements and resources to facilitate continuous improvements and foster continued public confidence in our democratic process.
3. Customer service and operational reliability
Q: How will you manage staffing, training, and technology so the Clerk’s office provides consistent, predictable service to businesses, attorneys, and the public?
A: Delivering unparalleled customer service and maintaining robust operational reliability within the County Clerk’s office are non-negotiable priorities. I will actively engage with our County Judge and County Commissioners to advocate for and secure the essential personnel and state-of-the-art tools required to serve our citizens and the judicial system with the highest possible standards. Recognizing the increased demands introduced by House Bill 2384 from the 88th legislature on court clerks, I have proactively begun collaborating with Judge Dib Waldrip, the Regional Presiding Judge specifically appointed to guide judges and clerks through the successful implementation of this new legislation. This proactive engagement ensures our office is well-prepared to navigate these changes efficiently and effectively, safeguarding our service quality.
