Educators from New Braunfels, Seguin, and Marion will have a unique opportunity this summer to step directly into local industries through the Summer 2026 Industry Insight Experiences Externship Program, taking place June 2–June 4.
This regional initiative invites teachers to participate in one-day externship experiences with local employers, providing firsthand exposure to high-demand careers and industry operations. The program is designed to better connect classroom learning with real-world workforce needs, ultimately strengthening the talent pipeline across the region.
Participants who complete a one-day externship will receive a $100 H-E-B gift card in recognition of their time and engagement.
“This program is about bridging the gap between education and industry,” said Mike Crowley, Vice President with the New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce. “When educators gain real-world insight into the skills and careers available in our region, they can bring that knowledge back to their classrooms and better prepare students for future opportunities.”
The externship program offers educators exposure to a variety of industries, allowing them to explore career pathways, understand workforce expectations, and build meaningful connections with local employers.
“Strong workforce development starts with informed educators who understand the opportunities and expectations students will face beyond the classroom. The regional externship program helps make that possible by immersing school professionals in local businesses and industries across our region.” Jessica Dersen, Workforce Development Manager, Seguin Economic Development Corporation
The program is made possible through a collaborative regional effort and is proudly supported by H-E-B, along with partners including Seguin Economic Development Corporation, New Braunfels Economic Development Foundation, school districts, and the New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce.
