The City of New Braunfels held its municipal election on May 2, and we want to take a moment to recognize everyone who participated in the process, whether by voting, volunteering, or running for office. Local elections play an important role in shaping our community, and every level of engagement matters.
Congratulations to Michael French, who has been elected as our next Mayor. We look forward to welcoming him into this role and working together on the issues that matter most to our business community and to New Braunfels as a whole.
In District 5, congratulations to Mary Ann Labowski on her re-election to City Council following a very close race. We appreciate her continued service and leadership.
The District 6 race will move to a runoff between Nikki Shaw and April Ryan, as no candidate received a majority of the vote. Runoff elections historically see lower turnout, but they are just as important. This race will determine representation for District 6, and we encourage voters in the district to stay engaged and make a plan to vote when the runoff election date is announced.
We also want to thank every candidate who ran. Putting your name on the ballot requires time, energy, and a commitment to serve, and that deserves recognition.
As a Chamber, our focus is on partnership. We are here to support a strong local economy and a thriving community, and that work is strengthened through collaboration with our elected officials. We look forward to building relationships with our new Mayor and continuing to work alongside City Council to move New Braunfels forward.
