Ian Taylor New Braunfels UtilitiesIan Taylor was appointed Chief Executive Officer of New Braunfels Utilities in 2016. He joined the NBU team in 2005 as the Manager of Water Operations and Maintenance, and in 2009 he was named Chief Engineer of Water Systems, where he was in charge of water and wastewater planning, design, and program management. Prior to joining NBU, Taylor was a Senior Project Manager for the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) where he led the implementation of electric transmission and distribution infrastructure. Prior to LCRA, he was an Engineer for Motorola. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

Taylor is a member of several national and local organizations including the American Water Works Association and the Water Environment Federation. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Headwaters at the Comal, Board of Directors of the Texas Public Power Association, Advisory Board for the Institute for Global Business for the McCoy College of Business at Texas State University, the Board of Directors of the Greater New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce, and Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for the Greater New Braunfels Economic Development Foundation. He is a member of the Texas Water Development Board’s South Central Texas Regional Water Planning Group. He also serves as a Captain in the Texas State Guard Engineer Group and various leadership roles in Cub Scout Pack 163, Boy Scout Troop 163 and the Wurstfest Association.

Favorite thing about Wurstfest? Enjoying food I usually only eat once a year. And the cooler weather.

If you had one extra hour of free time each day, how would you spend it? I’d spend it with my wife and kids.

Favorite candy? My kids can count on me to steal anything with chocolate from their Halloween bags.
