New Braunfels continues to outpace the state and national response rate average for the 2020 Census. Use of the internet is by far the number one-way people in the nation are responding to this years census. This is the first time in the history of the census that people can respond online and over the phone, in addition to mailing in completed forms.
On May 26, Chamber President and Complete Count Committee Chair Michael Meek updated the City Council on the status of his committee’s efforts to date. With the pandemic stalling door to door efforts until June, extra funding was raised to supplement the promotional budget. Thanks to donations from the City of New Braunfels and the Greater New Braunfels Economic Development Foundation, social media efforts will continue for another two-three months.
The New Braunfels Complete Count Committee was formed by the City Council in 2019 and works to educate local citizens about the importance of responding to the 2020 census. With New Braunfels being one of the fastest growing cities in the nation percentage-wise, it is paramount that the maximum number of federal dollars are allocated to the community over the next decade. In addition, Congressional seats are apportioned by population. Currently, New Braunfels enjoys being represented by three US Congressman
