It is with great pride that we recognize Dr. Kay Scott as a recipient of the Chair of the Board Award in the field of Community Care. Each year, no more than six awards are given, and her lifelong commitment to serving others makes her truly deserving of this honor.

Dr. Scott's journey of service began alongside her husband, Jack Scott, a former U.S. Army military police officer, as she supported his military career in various locations worldwide. Together, they built a life rooted in dedication, raising four children and cherishing three grandchildren.

In 1998, she became the Benevolence Coordinator at a local church, a role in which she spearheaded the establishment of the Family Life Center in 2008 and has served as its Executive Director for the past 16 years. Through her leadership, tens of thousands of individuals and families have found assistance, hope, and connection to vital resources. Beyond the center, for more than 15 years she has facilitated monthly meetings for community churches and agencies, serving as the primary communication link for organizations across our region. Whether responding to a crisis call at midnight or connecting someone with the right local, state, or national resource, she has become the person our community knows it can count on.

Even while serving tirelessly, Dr. Scott pursued higher education to better meet the needs of those she serves, earning her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2019, her Master’s degree in 2022, and her Doctor of Health Science degree in 2023.

Congratulations, Dr. Scott!
